The primary goals of this research were to determine the role of a salt water marsh in the global carbonyl sulfide (OCS) cycle, and to establish the diurnal and seasonal behavior of OCS from such a source. Secondary goals included the quantification of as many gases as could be resolved given the analytical instrumentation (optimized for OCS) and the constraints of sample storage and analysis requirements. Thus, the diurnal flux behavior of both OCS and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) were determined along with normalize concentration information for carbon disulfide (CS2). The influence of light intensity, soil moisture, and soil temperature on the rates of emission of these three gases was also monitored.
