Integration of Suspended Particulate Matter and Oil Transportation Study. Final Report, September 1984-September 1987

Dispersed oil droplet/suspended particulate material (SPM) interactions provide a potential mechanism for transport of spilled oil to benthic marine environments. Oil/SPM interaction rates were measured to develop a mathematical model for sedimentation of spilled crude oil and refined petroleum products. Data are presented for the interaction of fresh and weathered Prudhoe Bay crude oil with a representative suspended particulate material type.
