Developing and Conducting Interviews: Some General Guidance

One of the most widely used personnel selection procedures is the interview. It has the unique advantage of providing information about an applicant not easily available from other assessment procedures. This brochure provides an overview of three types of formal interviews that can be used to evaluate applicants' 'meet and deal' abilities not easily discernible from other measures. The interviews are briefly described and general guidance is presented on developing and conducting them. No attempt is made to provide a comprehensive review of the literature.
