Ecology of Important Fisheries Species Offshore California

摘要

The report summarizes the biology and fisheries of 32 fish and invertebrate species of commercial and recreational importance in the marine waters of California. Each species characterization is accompanied by maps of the southern, central and northern California coast which depict the distribution of the species, its spawning grounds and migratory pathways. Each species characterization includes information on the geographic range, habitat requirements, reproduction, migration, age and growth, general ecology, physiological ecology, population trends, fishing regulations and economic value of the species. The document is accompanied by an annotated bibliography (MMS OCS Study 86-0092) (PB90-261702) of over 950 entries, including all citations referenced in the document as well as other related material which was too general or too specific for inclusion in the species characterizations. The annotated bibliography was prepared in hard copy and in magnetic media for use with Sci-Mate and Sci-Search software.
