摘要

The information in the volume reflects some of the findings gathered during a 30-month research effort that explored training practices in America's employer institutions. The research was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor. The research involved over 400 experts and practitioners. Corporations as well as private and public employer institutions were tapped extensively to provide actual examples of successful training system and practices. Researchers found that human capital investment in the U.S. is unevenly distributed. Professionals are the most highly trained group, followed by technicians. The least educated and trained employees are machine operators, service workers, transportation workers and laborers. In these categories, only 18% to 37% of employees get qualifying training and 14% to 25% receive upgrading.
