Isomer excitation and depletion in nuclear reactions

In the light of the radioactive and isomeric beams progress the problem of nuclear interaction of isomers is discussed in some specific details. The most promising for the investigations isomers are selected. The production isomer-to-ground state ratios are discussed. The excitation and depletion of an isomeric state is described in terms of a special isomeric excitation (structuron) transfer in the nuclear interaction. The depletion of (sup 180)Ta(sup m) and (sup 212)Po(sup m) isomers in some special substitution (knock-out) reactions is presumed to be a probable process. 23 refs., 4 figs., 2 tabs.
