The dependence of the natural elongation k and triangularity delta for low aspect ratio tokamak plasma on the aspect ratio A for different internal inductance l(sub i) and poloidal beta beta(sub p) was investigated numerically. It is found that the effects of l(sub i) and beta(sub p) on k can be described in terms of an effective aspect ratio. Numerical results show that the dependence of k on l(sub i) can be explicitly fitted by an expression k = 1 + g(sub 1) (l(sub i))A(sup -2) + g(sub 2)(l(sub i))A(sup -4) and the effect of beta(sub p) on k is not negligible. No explicit dependence of delta on l(sub i) and beta(sub p) has been found from these results. (7 figs.). (Atomindex citation 28:032781)
