Notes on Thread Measuring Cylinders and Balls.

摘要

A simple method of calculating the diameter of the maximum safe and practical measuring cylinder or ball which may be used for the measurement of the pitch (effective) diameter of a screw thread is given along with appropriate parts of the relevant mathematics. Tables of cylinder and ball sizes and factors are given. In addition, a comparatively short method of obtaining an acceptably accurate value of the rake correction of a multistart thread is included. The results obtained are compared with those obtained from an extant approximate method and from the precise method. (Author)
