Preliminary Measurements in a Double-Discharge Tea Amplifier

The design of a TEA CO2 amplifier is described which uses electrode configuration similar to a double discharge electrode geometry. The range of gas mixtures and electrical excitations for stable operation of the discharge is presented diagrammatically. A method for measuring the pumping efficiency in that range is described and use is made of this method for determining the optimum conditions of operation. Finally, the small signal gain is given for those particular optimum conditions. (Author)
