A Comparison of Integral Methods for the Prediction of Laminar Boundary Layer Shock Wave Interaction

A number of integral methods are compared, which are based on the Lees-Reeves-Klineberg formulation for predicting the characteristics of laminar boundary layer-shock wave interactions. It was found that the methods in which the velocity and enthalpy profiles are described independently provide a powerful means for determining the important characteristics of the interaction. It is also shown that the stability of the governing differential equations (subcritical and supercritical behavior) is a property of the formulation of the problem and that an explicit relationship between the velocity profile parameter and local pressure gradient does not prevent good agreement with experiment.
