A geometrical optics model describing the reflection of a pulsed laser from a target has been derived and simulated on a hybrid computer. Approximate analytic expressions for the ladder cross section of simple targets have been obtained. Simulation results for reflection from spherical and cylindrical targets have been obtained and compared with experimental measurements made using an operational ladder system. A 24 by 32 element scan over simple targets has been simulated and the results displayed either as a grayscale encoded image or as an isometric plot.
