A RECOGNITION KEY TO SALT MARSH MOSQUITO (AEDES SOLLICITANS) BREEDING AREAS IN SOUTH GALVESTON COUNTY

In this communication, we are interested in analyzing the marsh land vegetation of the Galveston County mosquito test site for possible use in mosquito control work. Each relevant plant community is described and illustrated so it may be identified from aerial photographs, by computers, or in the field from airplanes or helicopters. The results of this identification work may be used to aid in mapping of marshland vegetation and to localize those districts where the salt marsh mosquito, Aedes sollicitans breeds.nThis key is an initial attempt. The best seasons for aerial identification of plants have yet to be determined. Also, the photos used are derived from several missions taken at different seasons.
