摘要

A stiff ordinary differential system in the partitioned form dx/dt=f(t,x,y) and E dy/dt=g(t,x,y) is more suited for treatment by numerical integration methods. A numerical algorithm based on a scaling technique is presented. By this algorithm a stiff system in which the right-hand-side functions are sums of products of powers of the variables is reduced to the partitioned form when balance assumptions are properly made. A graph theory approach which can help to select balance terms is also described.
