Research activities were performed in the fields of acoustics (mainly noise control), heat (energy conservation in buildings, instrumentation, building physics, solar energy and storage), materials science (glass, fine ceramics, and technical ceramics), optical instrumentation (design and construction of optical, optoelectronic, and mechanical instruments), and instrumentation (design and construction of sensors, measuring and information systems, development of computing and simulation models for physical phenomena). A low energy consumption project; measurement of the texture of tracks and roads; the star sensor on Giotto; and the determination of sound power in pipe walls are described.
