Water-Soluble High Polymers as Flow Enhancers

摘要

The hydrodynamics of flow enhancement are modelled in terms of the uncoiling of the polymer molecules under longitudinal velocity gradients in turbulent boundary flow. Specifications can be derived for candidate molecules in terms of molecular weight, conformation linearity, and electrical charge distribution. Potential industrial applications are considered, giving hydrotransport of sand as an example.
