Etude Structurale des Resines d'Impregnation du Type TGMDA/DDS (Structural Study of the Impregnating Resins of the Type TGMDA/DDS)

A TGMDA - DDS resin mixing procedure was developed to allow a fast homogeneization without advancing the chemical reaction. Polymerization tests were carried out, using different heating cycles and the properties of the resulting polymer were measured. The measurements included moisture absorption, solvent extraction, and thermal characteristics. It is shown that the use of optical microscopy with polarized light can define accurately the optimum mixing procedure. At a temperature of 140 C a good mixture is obtained in 5 min with very little chemical reaction.
