Asymptotic Error Bounds for Power Approximations to Multinomial Tests of Fit

The Cressie-Read (1984) class of goodness-of-fit tests is considered. Asymptotic error bounds are derived for two nonlocal approximations, the classical noncentral chi squared approximation and normal approximations to the power of these tests.
