Measurements were performed on the rotor of a model helicopter in order to test classical momentum theory, in the framework of a research project for the improvement of the aerodynamic theory of windmills. Pressure and velocity measurements were conducted in two planes underneath the rotor. The hot-wire anemometer measurements in the first only provide an angle-averaged picture of the velocity vectors; the total pressure in this plane was determined using a rake. In the second plane the flow velocity was measured with a hot-wire anemometer; the measurements with the total-pressure tube are unreliable. The goal of the measuring campaign is not obtained.
