Theoretical, Numerical and Experimental Examination of In situ Properties of Adhesives

A method for determining the elastic properties of thin adhesive layers was studied. Analytical methods as well as a finite element method were utilized. Experiments in order to establish the stiffness characteristics of a particular adhesive joint were carried out. In what respect a limited change in geometry influences on the stiffness and on the ultimate load of the adhesive joint was also studied.
