Contribution of Expert Systems to Avionics Advance. Application on AS30 Laser Weapon System

Artificial intelligence and expert systems are introduced. The interest and difficulties relating to this technique are exposed. An example of expert system development for AS30L weapon system illustrates the points stated. Prospects of this technique for avionics are assessed.
