Numerical Simulation of Two-Dimensional Transient Shear Flow

摘要

With emphasis on the effect of numerical accuracy of the scheme, a new algorithm is presented on the basis of an improvement of the Arakawa method, and numerical computation is made for the continuous, transient phenomena of a shear layer from a linear regime to a nonlinear one by the use of the Euler equations satisfying vorticity, energy, and enstrophy conservations. A comparison is made to clarify the validity of the present scheme applied to the transient phenomenon of a shear layer with an assumption of a monochronic disturbance, and detailed examination is made further on the change in flow field of the merging vortices.
