Mathematical Morphology on the Sphere

摘要

The extension of classical morphological definitions for Euclidean space to thesphere, where the rotation group replaces the Euclidean translation group is shown. Various motivations can be given for such a generalization, the most important one being that the Earth is spherical to a good approximation, which has to be taken into account when analyzing pictures taken by weather satellites.
