(a) Reasons for Investigation.—To provide additional data on the effect on hinge moment of rounding the upper surface and of thickening the trailing edge of an aileron.n(b) Range of Investigation.—Hinge moment measured on an aileron (24 -6 per cent, balance) designed for a low-altitude fighter, designated Aircraft B, and on an aileron (27| per cent, balance), with various modifications to the upper surface, of a high-altitude fighter, Aircraft A, on a £-scale model half-wing.
