摘要

A wind-tunnel investigation has been conducted to determine the improve ment in low-speed aerodynamic performance characteristics which might be realized by the use of high-performance parawings as auxiliary lifting surfaces for over loaded supersonic airplanes. Included in the investigation were the effects of parawlng orientation with respect to the airplane on the longitudinal trim char acteristics in overloaded cruise conditions (at moderate lift coefficients).nStudies of the effects of varying parawlng incidence angle and vertical position relative to the airplane indicated that the addition of auxiliary para wings can produce maximum lift-drag ratios similar in magnitude to that of the airplane-alone configuration and at lift coefficients nearly three times as large.
