The problem of defining and measuring internal drag or thrust of a ducted body is discussed, and convenient methods of measurement are proposed. The accuracy of the internal drag measurement is considered, and the possibility of improving this accuracy by means of duct design is illustrated.nAn account is given of the experimental techniques for measuring the internal and external drags of ducted models which are used in the 8 ft x 8 ft wind tunnel at R.A.E. Bedford.
