This Site Specific Waste Management Instruction (SSWMI) provides guidance for management of containerized investigation-derived waste (IDW) being loaded and transported to the Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility (ERDF). Requirements and responsibilities for designating waste, preparing waste profiles, and managing the waste are provided. The SSWMI outlines the waste management practices that will be performed in the field to implement Federal, state, and US Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. Additional guidance for waste packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping, is provided for information; however, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements have precedence.
