Inequalities are derived for determining upper and lower bounds on the sample size which guarantees, with a given confidence that no more than a given number of defectives will occur in a lot when zero defectives are observed in a sample taken from the lot without replacement. Two extensive tabulations are included, one of 1 - (1 - y)l/k, and the other of log (1 = y)/log P„ In the first, Y = 0.700, 0.750, 0.800, 0.850, 0.900, 0.950, 0.980, 0.990, 0.995, and 0.999, and k = 1(1)500(10)1000(100)11,000. In the second tabulation, Y and P equal all of the values of y for the first tabulation, and, in addition, both also equal 0.5000, 0.9750, 0.9995, and 0.9999. These tabulations have applications to the inequality problems, but also too many other problems.
