摘要

A knowledge of the thermodynamic and physical properties of materials is important in considering their use at high temperatures. However, the data available at such temperatures are limited and the experimental means of extending this information are generally much more difficult than at lower temperatures. One method of calculating some of these properties for solid materials is through the use of characteristic temperatures as proposed by Debye, and it seems to be experimentally more feasible to determine these Debye tempera¬tures at high temperatures by x-ray methods than through specific heat determinations at very low tempera¬tures. While such measurements may not lead to precise thermodynamic values, they can lead to results which are useful for many practical purposes.
