EVALUATION OF CaS04:Dy AND CaS04:Tm TLD FOR MEASUREMENT OF SMALL GAMMA-RAY EXPOSURES

The thermoluminescent response of CaS04:Dy, formed into pellets, and exposed to l37Cs gamma radiation from 1 to 90 mR is given. The thermoluminescent peaks, fading, energy dependence and linearity of response are examined. Tests were also made with a commercial reader and dosimeters, using CaS04:Tm powder sealed in glass capillary tubes. The feasibility of using CaS04 doped with Tm or Dy for environmental exposure is discussed.
