Status of Neutron-Induced Nuclear Data for Controlled Thermonuclear Research Applications: Critical Reviews of Current Evaluations

In order to provide a nuclear data base which will satisfy the needs of the Controlled Thermonuclear Research (CTR) Program, two near-term objectives have been initiated by the Division of Controlled Thermonuclear Research: (1) the establishment of an evaluated nuclear data library which is adequate for initial conceptual and engineering studies, and (2) a program of testing by means of sensitivity studies to establish in detail needs for new nuclear data and the accuracy with which these data are needed. The assessments presented herein must be regarded as a point of departure, rather than as a definitive statement on the status of neutron-induced nuclear data for CTR applications. These reviews are of a somewhat informal nature and are directed toward workers in the field. The error tables provided with these reviews are meant to be guides to the reader and should not be viewed as substitutes for the extensive error files which are being incorporated into the Evaluated Nuclear Data Files.
