DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF A CONTINUOUS VELOCITY-OF-DETONATION SENSOR

A device to improve the capabilities for measurement of detonation velocity in linear explosive devices has been developed. The device provides continuous measurement of the rate of propagation over a section of linear explosive somewhat longer than 100 mm. The use of the device in conjunction with conventional light-pipe sensing to generate redundant data is discussed. Estimates of the precision of the measuring system are presented.
