Large-Scale Scientific Computation at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory.

This report was developed from the text of a talk given at the 1977fall meeting of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Performance and architectural trends in supercomputers are surveyed,and it is shown how various aspects of the large-scale numerical simulation process affect computational facilities. Plans for utilizing the CRAY-1computer,as well as other future supercomputers,are discussed. In conclusion, speculations about how numerical analysis may be affected by current trends in supercomputers are offered. 9figures. (ERA citation 03:051648)
