Basic Requirements for the Design and Construction of Gasifier Vessels. Final Report

This document establishes the basic requirements for gasifier vessels. Economic and process considerations may require a large vessel enclosing a high temperature, high pressure environment. Fulfillment of these demands results in a large, heavy walled vessel, which may require field assembly and is unique in the pressure vessel industry. The integrity and safety of such a vessel is the primary objective of these basic requirements. Certain requirements, such as those covering insulation, paint, foundation and structure, instrumentation, and to a limited extent, refractory, are considered to be beyond the scope of this document. The gasifier vessels shall be built in accordance with the ASME Code, Section VIII, Division 2, and the terms of these basic requirements. These requirements are intended to assure that the minimum requirements for materials, design, fabrication, erection, and quality assurance are incorporated into the gasifier specification written by the Buyer for inquiry and purchase.
