Picosecond Time-of-Flight Spectrometer for the VEPP-2M Based on Local-Discharge Spark Counter

This time of flight spectrometer based on two localized-discharge spark counters operating on line with a computer is described. The resolution time of the spark counter itself is sigma = 30 psec. The spectrometer also utilizes six scintillation counters to reject the background and allow additional determination of particle type. The spectrometer is designed for the measurement of the form factor of pi mesons in the 360 to 800 MeV energy range on the VEPP-2M, with differentiation of e, mu and pi events on the basis of time of flight.
