A Preliminary Archaeological Survey of a Proposed Gas Well Location on Presque Isle State Park, Erie County, Pennsylvania

An archaeological survey and a cultural resource assessment were conducted for the United States Department of Energy, Morgantown Energy Technology Center, in an area to be disturbed by gas well drilling.nThe project area is located on the Presque Isle State Park which comprises approximately 3,202 acres in Erie County, Pennsylvania. This land was conveyed to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by Act of the 6 7th Congress of the United States, approved November 28, 1922 (1922 Stat, at large 1061, Chapter 3).nNo evidence of archaeological or historic significance was found at the proposed well site.
