摘要

Cerenkov detectors with silica aerogel of refractive index 1.03 as the radiator have been tested in a particle beam at the CERN Proton Synchrotron. With a detector surface of 22 x 50 cm exp 2 and 9 cm thickness of aerogel, the number of photoelectrons was found to be 6.5 for beta = 1 particles. (Atomindex citation 10:481440)
