Development of Pulverized Coal-Fired Glass Furnace. Final Report

摘要

The substitution of pulverized coal for the fuel oil and natural gas burned in existing glass furnaces in the US glass container industry in 1979 could save $100 x 10 exp 6 in fuel bills. The main problem with coal substitution in these furnaces is to determine the effects of coal-firing on furnace and regenerator life. Research on the economic and technical feasibility of such coal substitution is reported. It is concluded that conversion of the glass furnaces to pulverized-coal firing is economically attractive and long-term tests with this firing should be undertaken. (ERA citation 05:026067)
