A Final Environmental Statement for Plateau Resources, Ltd. related to issuance to a source material license for the Shootering Canyon Uranium Project to be located in Garfield County, Utah (Docket No. 40-8698) has been prepared by the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. This statement provides a summary of environmental impacts and adverse effects of the proposed action, and a consideration of principal alternatives. Also included are comments of governmental agencies and other organizations on the Draft Environmental Statement for this project, and staff responses to these comments. The NRC has concluded that, after weighing the environmental, economic, technical, and other benefits of the Shootering Canyon Uranium Project against environmental and other costs and considering available alternatives, the action called for is issuance of a source material license, subject to stipulated conditions.
