Process Scale-Up for Thermally Stable Molding Compounds

Trial runs were made at an independent research laboratory to demonstrate the scale-up from a batch to a continuous process for the preparation of silicone- and polyimide-based molding compounds. Coatings were applied in two stages to both a fiberglass cloth and mat. Molding tests on the product were used to substantiate the cure conditions needed for each coating. The knowledge obtained provided the information needed for planning a proposed production facility to prepare these molding compounds. (ERA citation 06:032273)
