摘要

Once-Through Steam Generators (OTSGs) are used in the Babcock and Wilcox (B and W) Nuclear Steam Supply System. To analytically predict the three-dimensional, steady-state thermohydraulic conditions in an OTSG, B and W has developed a proprietary code -- THEDA-1. Additionally, with the sponsorship of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) under Research Projects S156-1, S179-1, and S186-1, B and W is developing an improved version, THEDA-2. Confident application of THEDA requires experimental verification to demonstrate that the code can accurately describe the thermohydraulic conditions in geometries characteristic of an OTSG. Local temperatures and velocities, as well as static pressure profiles, were experimentally recorded and compared to predictions of THEDA-2A (the air model version of THEDA-2). THEDA-2A adequately predicted the single-phase, thermal-hydraulic profiles for the fully tubed and plate blocked - untubed lane geometries; however, THEDA-2A inadequately predicted the profiles of the untubed lane geometry.
