A microwave system was designed and built that was capable of reliably and efficiently heating a fluidized bed reactor to elevated temperatures. System applications included pyrolyzing euphorbia lathyris feedstock at 1450 deg F and calcining 10% cobalt/alumina catalyst at 900 deg F. (ERA citation 12:010997)
