摘要

The use of focused ultrasound fields in conjunction with the vacuum-coupled film encapsulating technique provides an effective means for the detection of isolated inclusions and localized inhomogeneities in green-state ceramic materials. Inclusions in the 100 mu m to 1000 mu m dia range have been successfully imaged in 0.25 in. thick green-state specimens. Likewise, localized nonuniformities in compaction density can be effectively imaged. The integration of such techniques into ceramic processing prior to densification could have a significant impact on both product cost and reliability. (ERA citation 12:011997)
