A United Nations project on the Cape Verde islands, which consisted of the establishment of a wind/diesel plant with battery storage facilities, is described. The climatic background, methods of site evaluation and choice of technology are explained in detail. Potential wind energy in Cape Verde is discussed. (ERA citation 14:010946)
