Covariant Formulation of Coulomb Excitation in Heavy Ion Collisions at Ultra-Relativistic Energies

Derivation of Coulomb excitation cross sections at relativistic energies is presented for the case where both projectile and target are considered as extended objects. Cross sections for projectile and/or target excitations are calculated as a function of bombarding energy in the context of a covariant theory.
