Numerical study of natural convection in a narrow annulus

摘要

Various numerical models were used to predict the natural convection of a solidifying liquid metal in a narrow annulus. Previous work in this area do not consider the temperature variation that exists in the fluid and the resulting heat conduction in the solid mold material. The finite element fluid dynamics code FIDAP was used to solve these models. The results indicate that the natural convective effects are small. 6 refs.
