摘要

A special purpose wind tunnel designed to test the fluid mechanical and heat transfer properties of ceramic matrix structures was designed, constructed, and subjected to performance testing. The facility was completed and assembled in early 2002. Two problems occurred during the initial testing phases of the facility. A persistent leak that limited the pressures that could be achieved was solved by remachining a flange surface and installing large 0- ring seals. A pumping bearing problem is being addressed by the pump manufacturer under warranty. Direct numerical simulation calculations were initiated. This work is aimed at predicting the effectiveness of transpiration cooling for a turbulent boundary layer at low Reynolds number.
