In the treatment of atomic, molecular and solid-state theory in the non-relativistic approximation, it is often desirable to study also the relativistic corrections including the variation of the mass with velocity, spin-orbit coupling, Fermi contact inter¬actions, and similar effects. In order to treat this problem, one has to start from the relativistic equation for the system under conside¬ration in a more or less complete form and to go over to the non-relativistic approximation.
