Chimpanzee Serum Biochemic Alterations During and Following 24 Hours of Restraint

Chimpanzee response to 24 hours of restraint was measured by biochemic serum alterations. Serum values in blood drawn immediately before, immediately after, 24 hours post-, and for a limited number of cases, 7 days post-restraint, are compared. The values are analyzed for significant deviations in relation to age, sex, and duration of restraint. The most pronounced changes with restraint occurred in potassium, inorganic phosphate, and total cholesterol. (Author)
