Application of Inversion Theory to New Satellite Systems for Determination of the Gravity Field.

Inversion theory is applied to artificial satellite systems to determine variations in the gravity field and sea level. The resolution matrix is the principal new tool used to indicate discrimination of parameters. The main conclusion is that features of the gravity field resolvable by satellite-to-satellite tracking will not have a horizontal extent much less than the satellite attitude. (Author)
