Airborne Expendable Bathythermograph (AXBT) Observations Immediately before and after Passage of Typhoon Phyllis in August of 1975

Ocean thermal response to a major typhoon is analyzed on the basis of data collected during the passage of Typhoon PHYLLIS in August 1975 in the Philippine Sea. This unique set of data was collected using calibrated Airborne Expendable Bathythermographs dropped from a Navy P-3 aircraft. There were three flights: the first was made 14 hours before storm passage, the second 10 hours after passage, and the third two days later. (Author)
